As Drogheda bids Fleadh Cheoil a soulful farewell, the very best from the region and beyond come together for a   rousing adieu in a gala concert featuring Dundalk singer and flute player Nuala Kennedy, known for her direct and captivating traditional singing style and for a unique traditional flute sound and multi-Grammy nominee, singer and guitarist John Doyle; Goitse, described by Irish Music Magazine as ‘music that’s brimming with energy and creative zeal’ are World and All-Ireland Bodhrán champion Colm Phelan, Conal O’Kane, one of the finest guitarists of his generation and the sweet and charismatic voice of Co. Louth’s Áine McGeeney.

The concert also includes the newly formed Box the Monkey featuring some of most exciting emerging musicians of the region – Sárán & Tadhg Mulligan, Muirne Nic Róibín, Seán Ó Casaide, Macdara Ó Faoláin and Conall Duffy, who blend elements of traditional and classical music, creating new sounds and complex harmonies; The Oriel Traditional Orchestra (OTO) which brings together musicians from Armagh, Louth, Meath and Monaghan to create a regional cross-border orchestra to perform arrangements of Irish Traditional Music; and Co. Louth’s Folk Orchestra, Nós Nua, fresh from performances including the National Concert Hall, are one of the most ambitious and dynamic groups of their generation. The evening closes with a tribute to the late John Watts, Leas Cathaoirleach of Drogheda Comhaltas, who are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year.
